Project Background

The Santo Domingo Pueblo is currently working with KLJ Engineering to develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan, which is funded through the US Department of Transportation's Safe Streets and Roads for All program. The Safety Action Plan uses a combination of data and community input to identify and prioritize roadway safety improvements that address safety challenges for all roadway users within the Santo Domingo Pueblo.

Tribal leaders and staff have already taken important first steps towards improving roadway safety within the Pueblo, with the completion of their Tribal Transportation Safety Plan (TTSP) early in 2025. The TTSP identified safety concerns, transportation risk factors that have potential to lead to serious injury or death, along with strategies to implement the plan.

Safe Streets for All

  • Federal Program

The US Department of Transportation started the Safe Streets for All program to fund projects that prevent serious injuries and deaths on roads.

  • Planning Grant

The Santo Domingo Pueblo received federal grant money to develop a Safety Action Plan.

  • Public Feedback

We need your input to identify safety issues on roads throughout the Santo Domingo Pueblo.
