West St. Paul is developing a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan, which aims to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes across the city’s multimodal transportation system including walking, bicycling, riding transit, driving, and moving freight. The City's network spans local roads, county highways, regional MnDOT routes, and the pedestrian, bicycle, and trail systems - each presenting distinct safety challenges.

The Safety Action Plan will expand on the Go West St. Paul plan to further identify and prioritize the most critical gaps in the pedestrian and bicycle system and related ped/bike safety infrastructure. Public input regarding these system gaps will be an important step in identifying the most critical ped/bike system needs and future projects, such as areas where connectivity is needed, safer street crossings, improving access to transit, and missing sidewalks or bike lanes.
