Project Overview

The Blackfeet Department of Transportation is looking to design a new corridor called Last Star Road. They will use input from landowners, a series of public meetings, Technical Advisory Council meetings, and high school and college students to score several design options and ultimately select one.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Travelers only have two options when going from Highway 89 to Starr School Road and neither are very efficient especially coming from the west side of town. This issue is very prominent during events held at the high school. This bottleneck has the potential to be a safety issue if emergency services are not able to get to and from a situation quickly. The proposed road corridor would alleviate traffic congestion through town and allow emergency services and the traveling public to get where they need to go without hesitation.

The public engagement and design concept phase will start in 2025 and end in 2026. The design and planning phase will likely go until the end of 2026. Therefore, the earliest optimistic construction start date would be Spring 2027, however this is funding dependent and so may take longer before breaking ground.

We want you to tell us! How do you feel about having a roundabout at either the intersection of the proposed Last Star Road and Highway 89 or Starr School Road? You can inform our design through your engagement! Provide feedback and we’ll be able to score it with other stakeholder priorities and use that information to incorporate it into the design concept. Our primary goal is to deliver a project that is truly yours!
