Project Overview

The City of Dickinson is updating both its Transportation Master Plan and Comprehensive Plan. These planning efforts are being combined together into one plan- Direction 2050. This long-range plan serves as a guiding document for the City evaluating factors such as community goals, land-use, zoning codes, road conditions, multi-modal facilities, crash data, and more. This update is particularly important as the Dickinson community has undergone many changes over the last decade when the last Transportation Plan and Comprehensive Plan was completed.

The goal of Direction 2050 is to understand future growth and how that growth will affect the residents and visitors of Dickinson.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

A comprehensive plan is a long-term planning document creating a broad, long-term vision for future land uses and the built environment of a community.

A transportation master plan is a long-range plan for transportation and mobility. The plan identifies gaps in the transportation network and potential solutions that can be implemented in the short-term or long-term.

Both plans (comprehensive plan and transportation plan) were last updated in 2013 when significant growth was taking place. Since that time, while Dickinson has continued to grow, the rate of growth has decreased, creating a need to update current growth projections for the community.

They city will utilize these plans to help guide future development, update policies, and plan for future roadway and infrastructure projects.
