Project Description

For nearly forty years Mesa County, City of Grand Junction, City of Fruita, Town of Palisade, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and One Riverfront have worked together to develop the Colorado Riverfront Trail. Described as a string of pearls, the Riverfront Trail connects community amenities comprised of county lands, city parks, state parks/wildlife areas and even private lands with special easements to allow public access to the trail system.

These agencies aim to protect the river corridor, complete the regional Riverfront Trail network, and provide outdoor recreation and education opportunities from Loma to Palisade, connecting the Grand Valley.

Mesa County and One Riverfront are currently working to identify alternative routes to connect the Riverfront Trail from Clifton to Palisade at Riverbend Park. Once analysis is completed, Mesa County and One Riverfront will have critical information that will aid in future trail planning and development efforts to complete this viable connection.

The routes in the Alternatives Map below do not reflect finalized routes for the Clifton to Palisade Riverfront Trail project. Route segment alternatives are presented here for public input and are being evaluated for feasibility and other metrics. All routes crossing through private property will require voluntary trail easements.
